About this listen
Considered “perhaps the most important American play of this century” by The Daily Telegraph, the Tony Award-winning Best Play has arrived on Audible. Based on Howards End by E.M. Forster, The Inheritance takes place in New York City decades after the AIDS epidemic. Eric Glass is a political activist engaged to his writer boyfriend, Toby Darling. When two strangers enter their lives—an older man and a younger one—their futures suddenly become uncertain as they begin to chart divergent paths. In this epic examination of survival, healing, and class divide, three generations of gay men attempt to forge a future for themselves amid a turbulent and changing America.

A powerful story and an amazing recording
I was lucky enough to have seen this production on broadway and was so happy to have the written script. But the chance to have this recording and relive a little bit of what the play was able to accomplish was amazing.
I had seen quotes by Matthew saying he wouldn’t release video of the play as it needed to be experienced to be felt in the way it was intended. This audio recording is evidence that his writing is more powerful than he knows. I found I cried and laughed in the exact same moments as I did in the live production.
This recording is a must listen in my opinion. So powerful.

Informative, heart-wrenching.
An excellent narrative performances. Gut-wrenching content regarding the AIDS crisis. I just really wish they gave some set-up for how the characters/story line/time line work. I thought they were in a writing class and a couple hours in, it turns out who I thought the writing instructor was, is actually a dead author? Looking forward to researching this play further to understand its original intent better.

An excellent listen with an important story
This is sometimes hard to listen to because it is so intimate, but the story is so important and beautifully done
