About this listen

There are three rules Brooke Sullivan must follow as a new nurse practitioner at a men’s maximum-security prison:

1) Treat all prisoners with respect.

2) Never reveal any personal information.

3) Never EVER become too friendly with the inmates.

But none of the staff at the prison knows Brooke has already broken the rules. Nobody knows about her intimate connection to Shane Nelson, one of the penitentiary’s most notorious and dangerous inmates.

And they certainly don’t know that Shane was Brooke’s high school sweetheart—the star quarterback who is now spending the rest of his life in prison for a series of grisly murders. Or that Brooke's testimony was what put him there.

But Shane knows.

And he will never forget.

Twists and turns and some meh moments

Overall I couldn’t stop listening. So good sign. Lots of good twists. Some that I predicted but wasn’t upset when it came true. I was annoyed by the helpless of Brooke at times - but could also see how it kept the plot moving. I thought the final twist was a little far fetched based on character development. Great narrator.

Not a fan of the narrator

Pretty good story, surprising ending.
The narrator hit a little dramatic at times, but overall great book

Nice twist

The book was good !! But there was so much hype about it I thought it would be a crazier twist at the end. Twist was good but it’s missing a little something something. But overall , I am happy I read it. It was a page turner for sure. I liked the narrator. She was good

I wanted the protagonist to lose in the end

The plot of this book had lots of opportunities to be good, but the main character was just so painfully naive and stupid that it made me want her to lose. The over-the-top narration did not help either. It’s ok if you want something silly to listen to, but overall, it's my least favourite Freida book. I will say that the ending did surprise me, tho. So there’s that.

Good ending

it seemed very laid out and somewhat repetitive but I appreciated the bowtie ending that wrapped the ending. Good performance but made Brooke sound like a tween books.

many twists

I enjoyed thinking I knew what was coming then being steered towards another option. ending was about silly I thought but endings are the hardest part. the extra bit after the end with the boy was great, makes me think there's a sequel coming about him growing up and full circle with the ending to tie it up. would be neat.
