Publisher's Summary

While many books explain the how of bitcoin, The Internet of Money delves into the why of bitcoin. Acclaimed information-security expert and author of Mastering Bitcoin, Andreas M. Antonopoulos examines and contextualizes the significance of bitcoin through a series of essays spanning the exhilarating maturation of this technology.

Bitcoin, a technological breakthrough quietly introduced to the world in 2008, is transforming much more than finance. Bitcoin is disrupting antiquated industries to bring financial independence to billions worldwide. In this book, Andreas explains why bitcoin is a financial and technological evolution with potential far exceeding the label "digital currency."

Andreas goes beyond exploring the technical functioning of the bitcoin network by illuminating bitcoin's philosophical, social, and historical implications. As the Internet has essentially transformed how people around the world interact and has permanently impacted our lives in ways we never could have imagined, bitcoin - the Internet of money - is fundamentally changing our approach to solving social, political, and economic problems through decentralized technology.

Must read for all bitcoiners!

Whether you are a BTC investor or a developer, read this book! Don't be mislead by its "introductory" nature, thinking that you might already know that.
The book isn't about "how bitcoin works". It's about a new disruptive technology that will change the world and money as we know it.
You will learn about bitcoin as a new spin in the evolution of money and why it is so silly to deny its success and the future behind it.

Very poor as an audiobook

I really wanted to listen to this book - but I had to stop. I returned it, even though I got it for next to nothing on sale. I bought it on Kindle instead, but here's why it is maddening to listen to:

- The chapters are incredibly short, with an annoying and disruptive break between even the most basic of ideas. We're talking 30 seconds to a minute, and then the next chapter is introduced. It makes it really tough to listen to and absorb the content.
- A female narrator was chosen to represent the author, even after the author spoke during the intro. I love female narrators - but in this specific case, it was jarring.

Save yourself the agony.

Good intro to cryptocurrency

Interesting philosophy, well presented and performed. STRONGLY biased in favour of cryptocurrency. Strange to hear speeches presented by someone other than the presenter.

Helpful to understand bitcoin

This book was a collection of speeches/talks that the author did on the topic of bitcoin. I know very little about bitcoin so I'm pleased to report the author did a good job of explaining what bitcoin is (and not) and why it's important. While interesting, the collection of talks wasn't overly exciting. In some cases they were downright boring. As a result, I had to force myself to pay attention at various points. But eventually, I got it done and my knowledge about bitcoin has improved. Not enough to invest in the stuff mind you.

Not that this is a knock on the book, but when I listened to it, it was 2022. Most of the author's addresses are from 2014, so it was a bit dated. Nevertheless, my sense is the basics that he covers are still true today.

I got this one sale. For the price I paid, I'd say it was worth the value. If you had to pay full price, I might tell you to find another book on bitcoin.

What a Fantastic Book on Bitcoin

Antonopoulos is an OG in this space. He not only provides an explanation about what Bitcoin is, but the potential it has to become so much more than "just" a currency.

A must read for anyone learning about Bitcoin.
