About this listen
They were told to leave. They should have listened.
The perfect opportunity…
A manor house available rent-free to house-sitters is an offer too good to miss for Cass and James, who have been saving for a deposit on their own home for so long.
Although it had been abandoned for almost thirty years, after a home invasion left almost all the inhabitants dead, it is an amazing chance for them to build their future.
But is it worth the price?
Shortly after moving in things take a sinister turn. Objects disappear and turn up in odd places, the clock always stops at the same time, the house is strangely oppressive and sometimes it feels like Cass and James are not alone.
Newington House may have bad energy, and a dark reputation. But surely there’s no reason for history to repeat itself, is there?

Sorry, but it is a mess
Started really well, creepy and promising, I was hooked. Some of the first twists were executed brilliantly, but at around 60% in, it got sooo over the top. Specifically, far-fetched characters whose decisions and actions didn't make any sense. I feel like most of the many twists, were made only for the shock value, the story getting so incoherent that I cringed non-stop at the nonsense. I lost any interest in this book and just wanted it to end already, unsurprisingly even the ending wasn't satisfying. The only fabulous thing here was the narration. So yes, creepy and full of twists, but feels like halfway through it became another story, with different characters... too messy to enjoy for me, but maybe others will love the endless plot twists.

Best Book Ever
I was hooked from the first world. The story just kept getting better to the point where I finished it in one sitting. Louise Jensen is a master, and The Intruders proves it.
