About this listen

CIA operative Dewey Andreas is America's last line of defense when terrorists take over Manhattan, targeting the UN and the president himself in the latest in this New York Times best-selling series by Ben Coes.

America is about to face the deadliest terrorist attack on its soil since 9/11. Iran has been planning a revenge attack for years, with three goals in mind. Bring America to its knees. Assassinate the popular US President J. P. Dellenbaugh. And neutralize their most successful agent, Dewey Andreas.

The first preemptive attack against Dewey Andreas fails, but it worries the head of the CIA enough that he sends Dewey out of town and off the grid. But as intelligence analysts work as fast as they can to unravel the chatter on terrorist networks, Muhammed el-Shakib, head of Iran's military and intelligence agency, launches a bold strike. When the president arrives in New York to address the UN, embedded terrorist assets blow up the bridges and tunnels that connect Manhattan to the mainland. Taking control of the island with its hidden forces, they race to the UN in search of Dellenbaugh and to launch an even deadlier attack that will wreak unimaginable destruction on the country itself.

While a shocked country struggles to mount a counter-attack, a hopeless, outmanned, and outgunned Dewey Andreas sneaks onto the island of Manhattan to fight a seemingly impossible battle.

Watch out Tom Clancy!

Please Please Please write another one fast lol! LOVED IT! I'm so hooked on this series. Now I'm going to go back and listen to them all over again. The progression from book to book in the series was extremely well done. And the story lines in each book were well thought out and very descriptive. Except for 1 of the books so far I'd give them all a 10/10. And give the odd one out an 8.

Always a good read

As usual action packed. Kept me up all night! Loved the pace and entertaining narration especially given the large number of character. Ari did amazing.

Bordering on the ridiculous

While the action is exciting, it feels as if Dewey has become a Marvel character. He seems to have super-human qualities which needs to be dialled back. This could be done by the writer toning down the disasters and making them more realistic.
Also, it’s hard to believe that a regular reader could in any way understand the analist’s lists. For example, almost all of Chapter 38 consists of numerous numbers and letters with little explanation: Tier One combatants, photos of yacht guests, personnel at Columbia University, Mandarin Hotel guests. I find these confusing and completely unnecessary, wishing for these lists to end. This seems to be Ben Coes thing and I would wish he would take into consideration the mainstream readers of his novels.
