good story poor execution
I enjoy the core of this series op blue mage raised by dragons. Love the darker characters like grimy, lindus, and the skeletons. But the poor decision making on the writers part has it all fall apart. The story shifts tone from funny to serious to dark and back to funny so quickly its jarring. The characters have major flaws like complete idiocy, rampant insecurity and failures to empathize with anyone including friends. And to such annoying degrees u cant respect the characters a fair portion of the time. Alot of the themes and conversation elements repeat like the astounded companion who cant believe what there seeing or that I dont get it cause I'm dumb while everyone else talks about how clueless they are. Characters dont develop and relationships form where they shouldn't like a skeleton used for comic relief and a serious type female adventurer. Ultimately I think it's a good story that suffers from being told poorly by the writer.
