About this listen
A mission failed... A civilization on the edge of collapse... A dangerous alliance to save it...
Colonel Mitchell "Ares" Williams has never been one to accept failure. While the outcome on Liberty is a crushing setback to his and the Riggers' chances of salvaging the war, there's no time to waste on regret. After all, the mission wasn't a total loss, delivering an unexpected asset in the wake of their defeat - Liun Tio, aka the Knife, a notorious warlord and enemy of the Alliance whose deep-seated mistrust of artificial intelligence and control over what may be the largest free fleet in the galaxy have made him the most important man alive.
If humanity is going to have a chance to survive the Tetron onslaught, Ares and the Knife will need to find a way to work together. But can the two learn to trust one another enough to bring the power of their joint forces to bear against a common enemy? Or will their fragile alliance crumble beneath the weight of personal motives and divergent goals?
As Mitchell and the Riggers will soon discover, the knife's edge cuts both ways.

even better
Either I'm just getting acclimatised to the writing, or the author gets better the more he wrote. Meaningful loss and raising stakes, quite the rollercoaster.

Still good
Series continues; more of the same. If you liked the previous books you'll like this one. The narrator does scramble some of the voices toward the end (voicing Mitch like Cormack), which was subliminally annoying. Regardless, good (free) book. not sure it was enough to convince me to spend credits on the rest of the series though...

solid...
a good listen that did not have me on the edge of my seat, predictable... but OK
glad they moved past the awkwardness of a 12 year old girl staring at a naked man

Good third book better than the previous ones
This book is better than the previous ones. The characters depth is good (well balanced and not superficial) and the pace of the story is much better than the first two book. Overall, I recommend it

Not the best from the author
Highly predictable. Another book where only a very few are competent enough not to shoot themselves in the foot at the earliest opportunity. I only made it to book 3 because it's a plus title. This is where the journey ends for me. The price of a credit is too much for only 8 hours of run time. Barely a work shift of content and the story isn't good enough for a second listen.
