About this listen

Ships are sinking for no apparent reason, carrying hundreds to a dark underwater grave. Strange fireballs race through the sky above the deepest trenches of the oceans. Something is about to show itself, something terrible and alien, a force capable of causing global catastrophe.

It's Not Unabridged

This was an excellent book by John Wyndham, and I was hoping to really enjoy it.

Unfortunately, while Audible says that it is unabridged, it is actually abridged, and at least one large and important chunk is completely omitted. I have now reported this to Audible customer service.

While I was listening to it, there seemed to be strange jumps, however I assumed that the problem was with my memory and that the novel wasn't as good as I remembered.. Finally, I started on the section called "Phase Three". It seemed as though a lot of material had been left out. Sure enough, I checked my copy of the paperback novel, and there were a lot of pages skipped over in the audio book.
