About this listen
A flawed man, a mute girl, and a spirited dog could be humanity's last hope - or its doom.
It's the end of the world, but Reg won't mind the peace and quiet - after all, he's always lived a solitary life. And his happy-go-lucky dog, Lineker, is ecstatic to spend more time with his beloved owner. Together, they plan to wait out the impending doom in their second-floor apartment, hiding themselves away from the riots outside.
But when an abandoned orphan shows up in the stairwell of their building, Reg and Lineker must leave their place of safety and accompany her into the ruins of a fallen city. In their desire to rescue the child, both man and dog must face the guilt of the past and discover a hope for the future....

Great story great performance
Not going to spoil too much. Fun seeing a post apocalyptic world through the eyes of a dog. Definitely worth your time.

weird and brilliant
funny, searing, dreadful, lovely. a strange but moving and insightful read if you have ever suffered, lost, and carried on. all that people are and all that we are not, the things we shouldn't be but are both good and bad. I loved it.

A fresh and unique take on apocalyptic fiction
It's was not what I expected and that is more than okay. What starts as an I am Legend clone quickly changes to a unique story of a man who's given up on human companionship at the end of the world and despite his best efforts is drawn back into humanity's embrace.

Wonderful book
I really enjoyed this story seen from 2 points of view, one of a man and one of his dog, facing a terrifying world gripped with racism, fascism, and fear. Fast paced, full of action yet achingly endearing it’s a story you’ll not soon forget and will not want to put down. 5 stars!

So glad I stumbled upon this one
This story will stick with me for a long time. I imagine I will revisit again in the future too. The narration was exceptional and gave it such life. Darkly funny and at times heartbreaking and a terrible vision into our near future, should we fail to believe it’s possible.

Astonishingly Good
I knew nothing of this story when I started listening. The title contained the word, “dog,” but was a bit ominous. I’m one of those people who check “Does the Dog Die” before reading anything, but this title wasn’t listed so I had to wing it. It was worth every second.
It took a while before I realized what world and genre we were in. As a confirmed introvert I was initially concerned that this would turn into a standard tale of redemption through human contact, but it is so much more than that.
I loved the convention of having chapters switch back and forth between Reginald and Lineker, although Lineker’s voice was quite startling at first. Not for those who fear the F-bomb! 😂
Highly recommended.
