Publisher's Summary

They said I would never finish flight school. Never rank at the top of my class. Never fly with the top aces. Never return from combat against the Kelton androids. Never survive emergency surgery.

Here I am.

The year is 2151. Earth is gone. A hellscape. I've been unfrozen after 72 years of cryosleep on a medical facility on Saturn's moon, Titan. I have nothing - no home, no friends, no concept of this new world, these Titans.

All that remains is the old conflict that has blackened my veins and memories of the ones I loved still fresh in my heart. Forgotten for decades.

But it seems war hasn't forgotten me, no, even in my slumber. My name is Captain Victoria Ann Belic. I was a wife and an ace fighter pilot and have been revived for one reason - to die again.

Fails to stand out

I didn't the the narration. The constant stammering she added to the characters felt out of character and get speaking was annoying. If the standing was the writing that's even worse. Also the author send to have be told don't use said to often, which would be fine, but instead just replaced said with some particularly odd choices that feel out of place and are almost nonsensical. With all that said, the overall plot itself was interesting if predictable

I must say the book was thrilling, it kept me on my toes quite a few times my son kept saying let go of the seatbelt, I know I'm going after the second, good reading and good writing.

Ugh

I'm having a hard time listening to the entire story. The narrator's voice doesnt lend itself well to performing the multiple characters, and the most memorable part so far for me hasnt been plot, but the description of the main character's hair..really, dear author, was that necessary or were you just trying to meet your word count?

Enjoyable until the end

I enjoyed the story but the ending was cut off abruptly. It's quite obvious to me that they took a story and cut it into multiple sections. It seems to be the norm here at Audible and I for one am considering just ending my membership.

Entertaining

Some review complains about the lack of scientific exactitude or accuracy but if you want lots of action and be entertained, I think it does the job. The reader is OK... sure, when the robot is talking it may not be always consistent and choppy but overall it did not bother me.

So bottom line if you are not bothered by some astronomy or engineering details and by the voice not being 100% perfect then it is a nice science fiction book. The story is interesting and there are a few twist that will surprise the reader.

Don’t bother

I am not real keen on si-fi but this one turned me off completely. Strange to follow the idea of the book. Not a fan for sure.

plot holes big enough to ruin everything else.

A huge chunk of the book revolves around the main character wanting to do something during a war, and getting in conflict with her superiors over differing priorities.
Common sense says that if her superiors plans to win the war work it will be far better to pursue her side agenda in a system at peace.
and if the war is lost it will be kinder not to pursue it at all...

terrible waste of time

Deeply flawed. The author should probably consider hiring a talented editor. Very hard to finish, I advise strongly against wasting your money and time on this nonsense. the author seems not to have done even cursory research into what they're writing about, whether it is orbital mechanics, how a spaceship works, what artificial intelligence is, and even, in two very cringe-worthy moments, the difference between an "astrologer," and an "astronomer," which is, I have to say, deeply embarassing for a writer of Science Fiction. Hard Pass.

The bad science drove me crazy

The main character was well developed early on and the story was going along ok until the lazy science mistakes started popping up. For example: If you run out of fuel half way to Saturn you don't come to a stop! That was so stupid.

Then the "ending" was SO stupid. In the last couple chapters the main character underwent a total personality change that made no sense! So stupid. I usually wouldn't even finish a book this dumb but I'm in a summer reading challenge and had to finish it. If the next book I read is this dumb I might give up on the challenge.

The narrator is great and did the best she could with the over the top dialogue and the cliches.
