About this listen
The bestselling fitness and self-improvement book for breaking through mental resistance and barriers, building unshakeable discipline, and keeping your goals alive when things get tough.
Fitness isn’t everything. But everything is harder if you aren’t fit.
Because the muscle and strength that you gain from working out is less important than the person you become by working out:
● You become a person who understands that growing into the best version of themselves necessarily includes getting into great shape.
● You become a person who never underestimates the power of simply believing in themselves and always looks for reasons to bet on their hand.
● You become a person who realizes they can achieve far more than they thought they were capable of.
And that’s why I wrote this positive lifestyle habits book:
To help you become that person by sharing insights from scientific research, compelling stories, and practical strategies for staying motivated when setbacks, failure, and self-doubt makes you want to give up.
Here’s a sneak peek of what you’ll find inside this motivation book:
● The "What, When, Where, If, Then" formula that will rewire your thinking for more consistency inside and outside of the gym.
● Three simple questions that will reveal your true "why" for fitness and unlock a wellspring of motivation that will keep you going even when it's hard.
● How to stop sabotaging your progress with complaining and negativity and develop a solution-oriented mindset that empowers you to take action.
● Warren Buffett's "2 List Strategy" for prioritizing your goals, eliminating distractions, and achieving laser focus and maximum productivity.
● How to use “productive pessimism” to avoid what scientists call the positivity paradox and cultivate a balanced mindset that will turn self-doubt into self-belief.
● And more
The bottom line is getting fit is like doing anything that most people fail at.
It's harder than you think it'll be. It'll take longer than you think it'll take. You'll make way more mistakes than you want to make.
But there’s also this:
You can't fail unless you give up.
So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed in your fitness; struggling with laziness, procrastination, or self-doubt; or trying to reignite your passion for working out …
… and if you want strategies for developing a resilient mindset that will empower you to stick with your fitness for the long haul …
… then you want to read this self discipline book for women and men today.

Great book - Evidence Based Research
This was a great read (listen through audio). Jam packed w relevant, up to date, information! Lots of strong examples, stories from the past and effective ways to get where you need to be. Bottom line however, you need to want it!!
Only reason I gave performance a 4 is because I feel the author should sound more enthusiastic while reading. You've written an amazing book; sound proud of it through its delivery to listeners!!

Definitely a ‘Re-listen’
Another great book by Mr. Matthews and necessary reading if you’re embarking on any new workout program. I purchased this first as a digital copy but realized the added benefit of the audio version to listen to during my cardio. I keep this book on ‘repeat’ to keep me focused and charged up. Michael as always relies on science backed techniques to maintain discipline not only to working out, but in all areas of life. His writes and narrates in a way that makes the information presented very easy to understand and digest. Strongly recommend to augment both ‘Bigger Leaner Stronger’ and ‘Thinner Leaner Stronger’.

Awesome book
Today I was being lazy. While being in my nice cozy warm bed I decided to listen to this audiobook OMG it was just what I needed to get out of the funk I was in 😁 I put on my headphones continued listening and began purging my basement which I have put off for over a year. Finished in 2 hours went on my treadmill for 1 hour while doing the exercises then did 10 minutes weights all while listening to this book. Totally enjoyed it… thank you 😁❤️

Like a workout, didn't like it at first
I got this book for motivation, since that's what's in the title, and in the first chapter the author states that it is not a book for people who need motivation. wtf. But I already bought it I didn't want my money to go to waste. So I would listen to it on the elliptical, a place I'm generally miserable and want to get over with. Today I really listened to it and took notes, so many great highlights on setting, planing, and achieving my goals. I also couldn't stop laughing. It may not be a comedic book but so many 'bad examples' felt like personal jabs that it was hilarious to me. I can't wait to check out your other book for Women's fitness

Great if you love anecdotes
I found the tone towards the reader to be insulting in an attempt to establish themselves as an authority.
Claims to be science based but all I was hearing was anecdotes, and ridiculous conclusions (one of which was literally referring to mythology as if it were real - at one point celebrating the commitment it would take to sacrifice your own child to accomplish a goal. Insanity)
Or the story about how a golfer would practice until his hands bled - and kept going. That is the price to learn to really swing. Great advice. Overdo it, Injure yourself and don't let it heal.
Sciencey.
