About this listen
Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of The Little Book of Hygge, written and read by Meik Wiking.
Denmark is often said to be the happiest country in the world. That's down to one thing: hygge.
'Hygge has been translated as everything from the art of creating intimacy to cosiness of the soul to taking pleasure from the presence of soothing things. My personal favourite is cocoa by candlelight....'
You know hygge when you feel it. It is when you are cuddled up on a sofa with a loved one or sharing comfort food with your closest friends. It is those crisp blue mornings when the light through your window is just right.
Who better than Meik Wiking to be your guide to all things hygge? Meik is CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen and has spent years studying the magic of Danish life. In this beautiful, inspiring audiobook, he will help you be more hygge: from picking the right lighting and planning a dinner party through to creating an emergency hygge kit and even how to dress.
Meik Wiking is the CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen. He is committed to finding out what makes people happy and has concluded that hygge is the magic ingredient that makes Danes the happiest people in the world.

Fantastic!
The first Chapter after the intro starts off a little dry, but once the second chapter starts, it is filled with humor, great anecdotes, and a deeper dive into hygge. I thought I initially understood what hygge is but this book greatly expanded on the concept for me. Definitely worth the listen if you want to live more hyggely!

OVER and OVER
We listen to this wonderful book at least once per year to remind ourselves to worry less and be more Hygge in our everyday lives. We thoroughly enjoy the author's sense of humour and what we hope is honesty. We live in Canada's North and, it seems, just by living here... were already embracing many of the concepts brought forward. Hygge = Happy Life. Chris and Sarah (Whitehorse - Yukon - Canada).

Uplifting in the time of Covis
With outside pursuits so limited , hygge is an excellent reminder of all the simple pleasures we can fill our lives with and create our own happiness and sense of gratitude. I have created my own Hygge Emergency Kit and have shared the idea with my friends.

Excellent livre que je réécoute 2 fois par année. L'auteur/narrateur nous donne envie de mettre un peu (ou beaucoup !) de hygge dans notre vie. J'ai même acheté la version papier de cet ouvrage pour les recettes :)

inspiring/relaxing, not fully possible everywhere
as an introvert i really connect with the concept, its also quite relatable as someone who lives in a snowy country! the author is also wonderfully relaxing to listen to. Only critique is towards the end it feels a bit like a denmark tourism advertisement... it made me realize that some of the concepts are so fully baked into the nordic countries socialist/egalitarian pie that hygge can't be fully realized in other places, like in suburban canada where i live and its even less possible in the usa. it started to make me feel a bit envious and discouraged at the wide gap we have from hygge where I live, which is the opposite of the book's concept. having said that, there are still many elements of hygge that you can implement at home.

Shorter would have been sweeter...
The topic of this book was great! However, the story could have been told in half the pages, if not less.
