About this listen

In pre-war Prague, the dreams of two young lovers are shattered when they are separated by the Nazi invasion. Then, decades later, thousands of miles away in New York, there's an inescapable glance of recognition between two strangers. Providence is giving Lenka and Josef one more chance. From the glamorous ease of life in Prague before the Occupation, to the horrors of Nazi Europe, The Lost Wife explores the power of first love, the resilience of the human spirit, and the strength of memory.

Beautiful story

I truly enjoyed this story. The historical background is based on true events and real people, which makes this totally heart breaking. As a novel, I found it to be very well written, beautifully read and hard to put down. The performance is done in a strange way. Having 2 readers, I expected them to alternate in their dialog but they don't. I found that the part read by George Guidall is the best performance I have ever heard! Every word, every sentence, every part of Josef's story he read, was such an emotional moment; I just could not wait to hear the rest.

The Lost Wife

This book has to be one of my most favourite. It was hard to press pause! May we never forget our history and always remember how strong a first love can be.
