A dead body is one mess she can’t clean up on her own.

Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by.

Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job. She delights in donning her crisp uniform each morning, stocking her cart with miniature soaps and bottles, and returning guest rooms at the Regency Grand Hotel to a state of perfection.

But Molly’s orderly life is upended the day she enters the suite of the infamous and wealthy Charles Black, only to find it in a state of disarray and Mr. Black himself dead in his bed. Before she knows what’s happening, Molly’s unusual demeanour has the police targeting her as their lead suspect. She quickly finds herself caught in a web of deception, one she has no idea how to untangle. Fortunately for Molly, friends she never knew she had unite with her in a search for clues to what really happened to Mr. Black. But will they be able to find the real killer before it’s too late?

Both a Clue-like, locked-room mystery and a heartwarming journey of the spirit, The Maid explores what it means to be the same as everyone else and yet entirely different—and reveals that all mysteries can be solved through connection to the human heart.©2022 Nita Prose (P)2022 Viking

So good!

I loved this book! Molly Gray takes her job as a maid very seriously but because she lacks social skills and cues finds herself getting into situations that ultimately make her a suspect in the murder of Charles Black. Molly the Maid takes the utmost pride in her job, right down to the crisp uniforms, sharp corners of the sheets and the placement of the pillows on the bed. However her inability to understand words and actions in a non-literal sense make her an easy target to some behind the scenes illegal activity going on at The Regency Grand,
I absolutely loved listening to this book while out on my daily walks. A light hearted mystery, and a great debut for the writer Nita Prose.

Amazing characters! Couldn’t put it down

I instantly fell in love with all of the characters in the novel. Especially Molly, the quirky protagonist. The atmosphere of the novel is also very captivating, it is not often that you read a book that takes place in a hotel. I was a bit disappointed by the ending of it as I felt like it did not make much sense. I also wish the narrator put on an accent for the hispanic character. Overall a great read! I finished it in one week. I’d recommend it.

A truly lovable protagonist

There is a murder mystery, but at the heart of it, it’s a story about love and friendship. I absolutely loved the protagonist Molly. And the narrator was perfect.

The maid was an interesting listen

What I disliked was from personal experience of being a hotel maid, just something things felt so off.

Also I didn’t like nothing happened to Wilber.

The story it’s self was cute. And I like that it ends with an ending and final Motion. Not like oh this this done vibe.
