Seventy-three years after the events of THE DEATH CURE, when Thomas and other immunes were sent to an island to survive the Flare-triggered apocalypse, their descendants have thrived. The group and their islander friends are forced to embark back to civilization where they find Cranks have evolved into a more violent, intelligent version of themselves. They are hunted by the Godhead, the Remnant Nation, and scientists with secret agendas. When they cross paths with an orphan named Minho from the Remnant Nation, the dangers become real and they don't know who they can trust. The islanders will have to survive long enough to figure out why they are being targeted, who is friend or foe, and what the Godhead has planned for the future of humanity.

Will there be more?
I have read all the Maze Runner books excluding the Files, and I think this was amazing, but all I can be is confused. There is so much missing information that makes me wonder if Dashner will release a 7th book since this brings so much more to the current realities of earth. It cant end here and I feel like im on a huge cliffhanger

Big fan but this one is just bad. like bad bad.
what most readers are saying is true. there is no story. nothing makes any sense, and the format is fractured in such a way as to be nearly impossible to build a literary rapport with one or any character. it also makes it kind of hard to follow. the connection with newt is the only plot device. but it is so odd because as I remember he became a crank and died. the mere insinuation that his remains were so coveted completely undoes the other 5 books. it will take a literal masterpiece of writing, i mean Tolkienesque level of mastery, for dashner to make his next book reconcile the story so many of us came to love. justify our love Mr. Dasher, we're counting on you.
