Publisher's Summary

Please note: This audio drama is for mature audiences only. It contains strong language, violence, and sexual content. Discretion is advised.

“Once this journey takes hold, I find I’m able to think as my character thinks, act as he acts, and feel what my character is feeling...”

James Patterson leads you into the darkest recesses of the mind with this chilling, immersive audio thriller. We meet Brent Quill, a frustrated actor trying to take his game to the next level. When he learns about the intensive Method acting process, he dives in deep—and immediately lands the lead role in a TV series about a brutal serial killer.

But when the Method’s controversial techniques start to take over Brent’s psyche, the lines between real life and acting begin to blur dangerously. How far will Brent go to “become” the character?

Starring Zachary Quinto (Star Trek, Heroes), Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), and a full cast, The Method is pure James Patterson—a roller-coaster ride of lies, coverups, and dark deeds.

Loved how the story flowed. I held my breath in spots and laughed out loud in others! James Patterson never fails to entertain the reader.

Good book but too basic

I enjoy James Patterson books including this, however the Jamaican accent was HORRIBLE, THE WORST I'VE EVERY HEARD...it made me want to stop listening to the book on several occasions. Please don't ever do that again. Long time listener!!!

voice acting was good, sound was excellent

story was good, although it felt like something was rushed or time passed without knowing. Didn't really take away from the story at all, just could have been fleshed out and maybe more could have been added.

Keeps you plugged im

First I am a fan of James Patterson so I will definitely read/listen to anything he writes. His novels like this one keep your interest and has great narration. The novel keeps your interest and guessing as to now the character will get caught. Good listen.

Loved this story within a story
I’m enjoying the new more involved reading like a play performance with sound effects

Immersive Psychological Thriller

When I think about it in quiet times, this scenario developed by James Patterson and Michael B. Silver is strikingly implausible (an actor becoming a serial killer based on an online acting course that triggers a descent into madness is pretty unlikely). The illusion of reality is further threatened by intermittently overdramatic dialogue ('Brent'/'PJ's Mother is particularly clichéd) - but I was pretty easily able to set aside reservations.. mainly because of cinematic description.

The weakest part of this recording is the aggressive editorial choices. On the one hand, the full cast performance is impeccable (hats off to Zachary Quinto, especially).. on the other, street sounds, fight noises, and musical interludes are annoyingly intrusive at times. The audiobook is overproduced.

Taken in toto, this production rates 8.5 stars out of 10. If you can get it as a 'Plus' option - as I did - you should absolutely invest the time.. 'The Method' is a very entertaining distraction. If they ask for a Credit, however, better options beckon.
