About this listen

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts continues the hauntingly spectacular Lost Bride Trilogy with book two, The Mirror.

“Brittany Pressley delivers a vivid performance.”—AudioFile

When Sonya MacTavish inherits the huge Victorian mansion on the coast of Maine, she has no idea that the house is haunted. The footsteps she hears at night, the doors slamming, the music playing, are not figments of her imagination. In her dreams she sees glimpses of the past. In the present she finds portraits of brides. And when she has visions of an antique mirror, she is drawn to it, sensing it holds dark family secrets.

Then one night the mirror appears and Sonya glides through this looking glass, into the past—and sees a bride murdered on her wedding day, the circle of gold torn from her finger. It is a scene that will play out again and again—a centuries-old curse that must be broken—and a puzzle she must solve if there is any hope of breaking the curse.

The intense pull in of the story

OMG I can’t begin to say how enthralled I was and I am just in awe of Nora Roberts ability to create a story I can’t believe we have to wait another year for the next story. It is so worth the listen.

Disappointing & repetitive

I have been a life long Nora Roberts fan. Trilogies are enjoyable because each one usually focuses on the ongoing storylines and a new relationship between a different couple in each book. I guess I’m just used to that. But when the romance between Owen & Cleo was not the focus, Sonia still the main character, I was completely thrown off. Then I was disappointed the milestone moments between Cleo & Owen are not focal points. Their romantic moments just glossed over and I think he should have been the person she took in her boat. This book was like a bridge. SO repetitive and boring. Hopefully the next one is better. Still so confused. What did I just read? I was looking forward to Nora’s signature trilogy style.

Wrap it up

There is too much of the same thing over and over … certainly the story could be wrapped up in this book.

Disappointing after the wait.

Best read to sleep by. I like Nora Roberts but this one is not worth the money.

Very engaging narrative

I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait for the final book. Nora Roberts is my favourite author.

Not nearly as captivating as The Inheritance

I really loved The Inheritance and was looking forward to The Mirror. While I enjoyed The Mirror and look forward to the 3rd book I did find The Mirror a lot less captivating and quite repetitive. I guess you could say there was a lot of “filler” information. I felt the book was slightly dragged out. The book does leave you on an exciting cliff hanger. I did enjoy getting to hear a bit more about the family history but could have done less with the many pet bathroom breaks & walks.

The story continues…

This great story continues but in my opinion book 2 dragged. The descriptions of all the meals and preparation of them was unnecessary as were all the details associated with character’s work schedules and projects. Despite this, I love the story and look forward to listening to what comes next!

Mostly Filler

I was so disappointed. I never leave bad reviews. I kept waiting for action. Nothing. This book could be a chapter, sorry to say.

No development. A whole book to plan a party, eat meals and work.

Nothing really happened. The romance was soft at best with them thinking 'i love you' but never saying it to each other or developing their relationship. The secondary romance feels like an afterthought and not very developed at all. It's mostly a story about them working, eating meals and throwing a big party with bits of walking in the past and ghosts thrown in. We still haven't even met all the 7 ghosts or heard their stories. Easily pass this one by and wait for the conclusion. You won't have missed out on anything important.

Nothing specific

I loved the 1st book in this series and was anxious to receive and read the 2nd book.Very disappointed with lots of pages filled with too many stories with no wow moments. Found this book very boring.
