About this listen

Here is an unapologetic look into the factors that have caused so many Blacks to think and act in the negative way they do towards themselves and others. This timely body of work is from a man well versed in the American educational system, as well as educational systems throughout the world. Dr. Carter G. Woodson was the second Black person to receive a Ph.D. from Harvard University after W. E. B. DuBois. He served as Dean of Education at both Howard and Morehouse universities. And he was over the entire educational system for Malaysia for three years.

Founder of Black History Month, Dr. Woodson would go on to write over 20 books detailing Negro history and life. His life story is as much of a classic as this monumental book.

Still room for change

It’s sad to see how much still needs to be done. There’s been much progress but some of the internalized racism still exists.

A good read!

Well articulated position. Made me wonder if change will ever come. Woodson highlights the power of education and the agency of the individual to bring about change. A good read for everyone, especially educators.

Connect the Dots!

The book is dealing with the conditioning of the entire black race and how it is perpetuated and how.we miss opportunities or refuse to elevate our thinking to.make changes.

I am continuously floored by the fact that this book was written so long ago and so much of it that was observed at that time is still dead on for today.

The author is wise, observant and pulls no punches.
