Ailsa Calder has inherited half of a house. The other half belongs to a man who disappeared without a trace 27 years ago - her father.

Leaving London behind to settle the inheritance, Ailsa returns to the manor, nestled amongst the craggy peaks of the Scottish Highlands, joined by the half-sister who's practically a stranger to her. Ailsa can't escape the claustrophobic feeling that the house itself watches her - as if her dramatic past hungers to consume her. When the first nighttime intruder shows up and the locals in the isolated community pry into her plans for the manor, Ailsa grows terrified that escaping the beautiful old home will cost her everything.

why are we whispering??

love the accent but you have to listen very closely especially that the last few words of every sentence end in a whisper. I found myself having to rewind a lot especially while driving. voice perhaps too soothing.. was hard to stay focused on the story for me with the whispering or slow story line maybe due to my wandering adhd brain I just could not stick with it. Half way through the story I felt like I missed half of it or was still waiting for the story to start. I'll have to try again another time when I can devote more focus to it but for now the sultry whispering was just too much for me
