Molly Gray has always loved the holidays. When Molly was a child, her gran went to great lengths to make the season merry and bright, full of cherished traditions. The first few Christmases without Gran were hard on Molly, but this year, her beloved boyfriend and fellow festive spirit, Juan Manuel, is intent on making the season Molly’s most joyful yet.
But when a Secret Santa gift exchange at the Regency Grand Hotel raises questions about who Molly can and cannot trust, she dives headfirst into solving her most consequential—and personal—mystery yet. Molly has a bad feeling about things, and she starts to wonder: has she yet again mistaken a frog for a prince?

All romance, no mystery.
3 stars.
All romance, no mystery.
This latest release in the Maid series released in October 2024 and I figured December was the perfect time to embrace this Christmas themed book. I had the pleasure of seeing this author at an event in December which had me excited to dive in. She was a wonderful speaker!
Molly was as endearing as ever, but this story solely focuses on her relationship with her boyfriend. I would categorize this book as a romance, not a cozy mystery, as the last two books in the series have been. Unfortunately, I am not a romance reader so I did not connect with this as much as I had expected. For readers who enjoy romance and cute stories, they will surely love this. For others like me, who expect the same sort of mystery focused plot, this will likely be a letdown.
The setting was excellent, as with all the books in the series. The hustle and bustle of the hotel during the Christmas season was palpable. The secondary characters all make an appearance and they were easy to reconnect with. Gran’s wisdoms continue to whisper in Molly’s ear which continues to be my favourite part of these books.
Overall, this was an underwhelming instalment in the Maid series due to its heavy romance focus. However, if you enjoy romance, it will likely work out much better for you!
Audio rating: 4 stars! I enjoyed listening to this. The narrator added the perfect charm to the story.

The sweetest treat
This was such a sweet little listen on a long drive today. My only complaint is I wish it had been longer - I’ve been missing sweet Molly and could have used more of a catch up with her but overall this just made me so happy!

Book: A Mistletoe Mystery
Author: Nita Prose
Rating: 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I loved this short little holiday novella, where we were thrown back into the Molly the maid world!
It completely made sense how the FMC is super wary now of trusting everyone's good intentions as lots of people have proved her wrong in books 1 & 2.
But in the end it was super sweet and just what I needed at the time I read it.
You get:
• Neurodivergent FMC
• Hotel
• Holiday Related
• Secrets
• What Does It Mean?
• Lies & Truths
• Gift Giving
Such a great series! Available on ebook, hardcover, paperback, and audiobook.

A sweet romance interlude for the Maid series
"𝐀𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐰, 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐬."
I love Nita Prose's Molly the Maid books that are filled with mysteries, loveable characters, and lessons of kindness. After seeing Prose wrote a holiday-themed novella, I couldn't wait to return to The Regency Grand Hotel.
If you have enjoyed Molly and her fellow co-workers at the hotel, you'll enjoy being reunited with them for this short tale of the joy around the holidays. It does have quite a different feel from the two currently published full-length novels, less of a mystery and more of a romance. The mystery itself is not surprise, and in fact, is quite evident throughout the story. It was both a joy and a bit of a frustration to watch Molly catch up with what the reader has known throughout. I also struggled a bit with Juan Manuel; despite wishing he was in the second novel more when I read it, I felt that the beginning of this novella almost had too much of just him and Molly. I missed the other characters of the hotel to create a variety in storytelling, and was glad when they appeared later on. Despite these elements, the overall sweet tribute to the holidays and O. Henry's The Gift of the Magi is fairly charming and it is comforting to see just how Molly has embraced her found family, despite her challenges in readings others’ behaviours. Due to its length, I thought listening to the audiobook would be a good choice, and it did not disappoint. Lauren Ambrose does a fantastic job narrating the story. I adored the cadence she adopts for Molly and Gran, and she has just the right touch of nasal behind Cheryl (exactly how I picture her speaking!). This helped keep me invested in the inevitable ending, which is quite welcomed during this time of year (much like holiday Hallmark movies, I know where the ending is headed but it doesn't stop my overall enjoyment of the journey).
The Mistletoe Mystery is a story of goodwill, misunderstandings, mischief, and love. If you think of it as a quiet interlude between books and enjoy it as a holiday romance, it is a sweet reunion with Molly and the Regency Grand gang for the holiday season, which sets things up for book three.
