About this listen
The Music of Erica Zann is an intense, modern gothic thriller written and read by debut novelist James Scully. It blends lyrical prose, relatable characters, and cheeky humor in an action-packed, Lovecraftian narrative that never slackens its pace.
The story follows teenage musical prodigy, Erica Zann, who has always felt haunted by some presence, watching her and waiting. After a brilliant on-stage performance, Erica is visited in a dream by the sickening yet alluring Claw and compelled to write his haunted symphony. Claw's melody brain-washes anyone who hears it and absorbs them into his army. As Claw's influence spreads through Erica's hometown of River Forest, IL, Erica, her best friend, Aliyah Smith, her boyfriend, Ted Berry and others must subdue it and defeat its creator who is using Erica as his vessel to open a portal unleashing Hell of Earth.
Loosely adapted from the 1921 H.P. Lovecraft story, The Music of Erich Zann.
