Publisher's Summary

A new male/male hockey romance from 24-time USA Today best seller Sarina Bowen!

My name is Hudson Newgate, but my teammates call me "New Guy".

That was my nickname in Chicago, too. And Vancouver. That’s what happens when you keep getting traded. Brooklyn is my last chance, especially after my poor performance last season.

But I can make this work. The new guy knows to keep his head down and shoot the puck. The new guy puts the game first.

What he doesn’t do is hook up with the other new guy—a hot athletic trainer who lives in my building. Gavin needs this job with my team. He’s a single dad with responsibilities.

We can’t be a couple. My arrogant agent–who’s also my father–will lose his mind if I’m dating a dude. And my team needs me to score goals, not whip up a media circus.

Too bad Gavin and I are terrible at resisting each other....

Wonderful

I didn’t want to ever pause this story and I finished it way too fast. It was such a good story with out the boring back and forth that can sometimes happen in romance books.
Def recommend to everyone I smiled almost the whole time.

Does useless suffering make a HEA feel better?

Overall, I liked this story a lot. I think the characters feel very real and believable. And the narration is perfect (you just can't go wrong with these 2 men!). However, looking back after finishing it, I realize how tired I am of the almost-, kinda-, fake breakup that is very hard to read through because you actually get attached to those very real and believable characters...and you don't want them to suffer for nothing! Does the HEA really, actually feel better because it comes right after some intense pain? Why is that common of a thrope in romances? In kinkier stories I see how physical pain can sometimes feel very close to pleasure and this dynamic is interesting to explore. But I don't think it's true for emotional pain. It does not always mean happier when that pain goes away.

Couldn’t finish unfortunately

I got to chapter 28 and couldn’t finish. Pacing was slow. Nothing really happens.

I’m normally ok with easy listens but this should’ve been read by one narrator instead of two. One voiced Gavin in a deeper tone than Hudson and the other narrator flipped this so it was confusing to follow at times.
