The only thing that made me really sad was the death of Maxin’s mother. She had such a loving heart and was so gracious and kind. I am so glad Maxin was so very much like her!
This would make a beautiful “Hallmark” movie. By the way, I say this in all seriousness. I love the Hallmark movies. Thank you Kiera Cass for keeping this book so pure and lovely!

The author has a lot of promise, and I do find that her writing grew in strength towards the third book.
The main reason I read through the series, is that I continued to hope that the wishy-washy back & forth-ness of America, and the blasé excuses Maxon kept giving would improve. To be honest these books give to much focus on the importance of appearance for little girls, edge on the opinion of its okay to have multiple romantic partners at the same time, dishonesty in the relationship, and lack of faith in partners and themselves.
I love a good romance, some royal themes thrown in a book, but things were too inconsistent overall. And the underlying morals at time just grated on my skin. The author has potential I'll give it that, and the premise is a cheerful fluffy book aimed at young adults/teen readers
