About this listen
Ponyboy can count on his brothers. And on his friends. But not on much else besides trouble with the Socs, a vicious gang of rich kids whose idea of a good time is beating up "greasers" like Ponyboy. At least he knows what to expect, until the night someone takes things too far.

Story
Annie Proulx's masterful language and fierce love of Wyoming are evident in this collection of stories about loneliness, quick violence, and wrong kinds of love. In "The Mud Below", a rodeo rider's obsession marks the deepening fissures between his family life and self-imposed isolation. In "The Half-Skinned Steer", an elderly fool drives west to the ranch he grew up on for his brother's funeral, and dies a mile from home.

Great Book!
The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton s written in the 1960’s and takes place in Tusla, Oklahoma,United States. The story is told through Ponyboy’s eyes and how he takes you on a journey full of action and survival. The main character Ponyboy lives in a poor area in a small home with his two older brothers Darry and Sodapop. They are brothers are orphans and are very close and are always there for each other. They all belong to a gang called the Greasers to which their friends belong to as well. Their enemy the Socs is another gang but very different from theirs. The Socs and the Greasers do not get along at all. The Greasers have long slicked hair and all dress alike, they are all from the east side of town. The Socs are a gang of rich kids who drive nice cars and are always looking to get into trouble the Greasers. I would recommend this book to all the to all the teenagers who struggle to understand their own personality and who they really are. Even though the two gangs seemed so different they are very much the same. Both sides want to be accepted by others and all the guys want to be seen for individuals not just as a member part of a gang. The story at times does get quite violent but I think it is necessary to get the message across. It does a very good job in showing how much the pressure to fit in and to be accepted can have life long consequences.

This book is such a fantastic read (or listen to) for any age!
I first fell in love with this book when I was a teenager, and purchased this audio version to listen to with my own teens. Both of them loved it just as much as I did.

A Great Read!
This book is one of my favorites. The story is very good, and relatable to some audiences. I was so excited to finish the book! I love it! The performance is great, but sometimes a little bit slow. I would recommend this book, to anybody looking for a new and different story to read. Overall, I would re-read this book.
