About this listen
This book contains three individual stories, set between 1861 and 1867. The first story "Pony Express" is about a 14-year-old boy, Ben O'Brien, and his 17-year-old sister, Margaret, who have lost their parents and all the horses on the horse ranch due to a Paiute Warrior attack. Due to their desperate situation, Margaret pretends to be Ben's twin brother, so they can each earn $25 a week riding for the Pony Express. The rides are dangerous, with many hazardous obstacles. When Margaret faces a life-threatening situation, will her handsome wrangler, Flint, come to her rescue?
"Gone to Texas" starts four years later, when Ben is 18 and wants to make his own way in the world, so he and his old friend from the Pony Express days go to Texas. He learns some life lessons and has some dangerous situations to overcome. Ben also must choose between two very different, but equally beautiful sisters.
"Rowdy's Romance" is about Ben's brother-in-law and starts in 1867. Rowdy has lost his father and brothers in The War Between the States. He had to provide for his two sisters and try to save their home ranch. He meets an arrogant young lady, Tina Erickson, who is determined to go on the cattle drive that Rowdy is in charge of to protect her grandfather's interests. They clash and sparks fly between Rowdy and Tina, but is it all anger?
