About this listen
This adventure story has everything you could want: a handsome good guy, a pretty heroine, some bad guys, sword fighting, revenge, romance, and of course a happy ending, along with “rodents of unusual size.” Join Westley (the plucky farm boy), Buttercup (the beautiful young maiden), Inigo Montoya (the driven, embittered swordsman), Prince Humperdinck (the scheming villain), and many other strange and unusual characters in this swashbuckling tale of good-natured silliness.
Read by Rob Reiner, who directed the motion picture based on this fairy tale adventure.

Yes
I was nervous because I loved the movie so much, but it turns out that I had nothing to worry about. The perfect amount of sass and sarcasm. I love the way the author has set up the book...very clever and very fun! Definitely a book that I’ll read and listen to for years!!
I also appreciated the appropriate amount of sass from the narrator, especially because the whole set up for it was amazing.

Abridged Version
I felt as though I was listening to the screenplay of the film and so I wasn’t surprised that this version is the abridged version and not the novel itself.

Kids loved it
Wonderful book for a long car ride. Kids were engaged throughout and I as an adult enjoyed as well.

Great book, very close to the movie
The narrator does a fairly good job, but the way the dialog plays out is inferior to the movie.

This is not the full book!
the entire point of this novel is to be a parody of an abridgement. They have removed almost all of the annotations and a great deal of the story, it feels like you're just reading a lengthy screenplay of the movie. Whoever decided on using this abridgement instead of the entire book really missed the mark. I enjoyed Rob Reiner's interpretation, it's slightly dispassionate and full of attitude which is perfect for the voice of the story teller, but I was really disappointed that this is the only version of The Princess Bride on Audible.

Great fun
The film based on this book is a classic...more of a cult hit than anything. The book is a lot of fun and the screenplay of the film follows this book almost exactly.
Reiner's narration is fantastic, somewhat tongue-in-cheek in fitting with the lightheartedness of the story.
This is an 8.5/10 production.

Abridged from the original
I always loved the Princess Bride but this is not the story I remember. It's like it's an abridged version or something - edited for modern listeners. Also as much as I love Rob Reiner he isn't a great reader. There are a lot of pauses and some repeats of words as if he got a little distracted or needed to clear his throat. As good as this book is, I suspect that it's best appreciated on paper.

As Wonderful As The Movie
Hearing Rob Reiner read it made it even better. I was surprised how quickly the time went, just enjoying the story

Good enough.
I would have rather had the full version. still worth listening to. Rob Reiners accents are tough to listen to.
