Publisher's Summary

In Sloane’s world, true feelings are forbidden, teen suicide is an epidemic, and the only solution is The Program.

Sloane knows better than to cry in front of anyone. With suicide now an international epidemic, one outburst could land her in The Program, the only proven course of treatment. Sloane’s parents have already lost one child; Sloane knows they’ll do anything to keep her alive. She also knows that everyone who’s been through The Program returns as a blank slate. Because their depression is gone - but so are their memories.

Under constant surveillance at home and at school, Sloane puts on a brave face and keeps her feelings buried as deep as she can. The only person Sloane can be herself with is James. He’s promised to keep them both safe and out of treatment, and Sloane knows their love is strong enough to withstand anything. But despite the promises they made to each other, it’s getting harder to hide the truth. They are both growing weaker. Depression is setting in. And The Program is coming for them.

Includes a bonus interview with the author.

Pretty good

I did enjoy this book for the most part. I hadn't realized it was YA until I started listening to it. But the concept was interesting. What made me give it 4 stars and not 5 was that the main characters became tedious and quite annoying. I went from couldn't stop listening to closer to the end, couldn't wait for it to end and my mind was wondering and bored with it.

Addicting book!

This is the kind of book that you would sit for 6 hours straight to listen to. Amazing characters and plot twists. I really disliked the narrator. Be prepared for a lot of ha-what, ha-whys. Now you know, you won't be able to stop noticing!

Can be triggering but interesting

The content is different from the usual books I listen to. It can be triggering if you have a history of suicide or lost someone to suicide. I purchased the second book, too because I want to see where the story goes. An interesting book!

Self indulgent entitled teen ranting about wanting to die 10 hrs

The most self indulgent poorly written, first world problems teen ranting and whining about feeling depressed and wanting to kill herself nonstop - where is the plot? Where is the sci-fi?? Wanted to return it, but I skipped ahead so much continuing to hope to get to some kind of theme that I pass the point of no return and cannot return it. If you want to be in a lousy mood, listen to this.
