Publisher's Summary

One text to the wrong number—mine—and everything changed.

He won’t tell me his last name, and maybe that should throw up a thousand red flags, but when I’m all alone in a new city and struggling to make ends meet, his texts are the lifeline I’ve been desperate for.

I never would have answered that text if I’d known that Lincoln Daniels—superstar hockey player extraordinaire—was the one sending it.

He’s trying to sweep me off my feet now. He says he’s obsessed.

He wants me to wear his number…permanently. But is he still the wrong number, or can this hockey god prove he’s Mr. Right?

The Pucking Wrong Number is book one in the Pucking Wrong series but can be enjoyed as a standalone. It is a dark hockey romance from USA Today bestselling author C.R. Jane. Lincoln Daniels is a morally grey antihero who is obsessed with his girl and will do anything to keep her.

This audiobook contains mature subject matter. Listener discretion is advised.

A Steamy Surprise

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Heat Level: 🔥🔥

As a newcomer to C.R. Jane's writing, I stumbled upon "The Pucking Wrong Number" after a TikTok recommendation, enticed by its intriguing synopsis. Being an avid consumer of romance for its escapist and fantastical allure, this book did not disappoint.

Despite its classification as a dark romance, I found the story more engaging than unsettling, though I acknowledge its potential triggers for some readers. From the outset, I was captivated by the dynamics between the characters, particularly the unabashedly obsessed MC and the tantalizingly dirty talk that permeates the narrative.

The premise, revolving around a chance text to the wrong number leading to unexpected connections, provided an enticing backdrop for the blossoming romance between the protagonist and Lincoln Daniels, a charismatic hockey superstar. Jane skillfully weaves a tale of unexpected encounters and forbidden desires, keeping the reader hooked from start to finish.

One aspect that particularly stood out was the chemistry between the characters, which practically sizzled off the page. Lincoln's relentless pursuit and the MC's hesitant yet undeniable attraction added layers of tension and anticipation, making each interaction crackle with electricity.

While the plot may tread familiar territory in the romance genre, Jane injects enough twists and turns to keep the narrative fresh and engaging. As the stakes escalate and emotions run high, "The Pucking Wrong Number" evolves into a thrilling rollercoaster of passion, doubt, and ultimately, redemption.

In conclusion, "The Pucking Wrong Number" delivers exactly what it promises: a steamy, escapist romance that will leave readers breathless and eager for more. Whether you're a seasoned fan of the genre or a newcomer looking for a captivating read, this book is sure to hit all the right notes.

Outstanding Performance By First Time Narrator Alexis Page!

The raw emotions I felt from Alexis’ narration was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Finding out this was her first narration, I can only imagine how she’ll get even better (if that’s even possible) and I can’t wait to see where this will take her in this exciting narration career!

This story took some dark turns that I was definitely not expecting but I still really enjoyed it. Troy’s deep voice brought so much more to Lincoln’s dark characteristics that I could not get enough of.

Odd romance

I find it hard to really like something when the relationship is so mentally sick.

I loved listening to this book after I read it on Kindle. I have now purchased the books in paperback now and the audio version on this app. I am looking forward to the 4th book. This series is well worth the money.

Obsessive beyond decency

I love a good dark romance, but this MMC doesn't redeem himself.... Yes, I'm ok with kidnapping if he makes moves to redeem himself and legitimately wins the girl over. Eg, a good Mafia or MC romance where MMC makes great strides to win over the girl. Probably even let's her go so they can come to terms with their feelings. But that doesn't happen here. He literally chains her to the bed and waits for Stockholm syndrome.... That isn't love. That's an abused woman who had never had anyone care about her for her entire life and now has a possessive man that goes overboard to keep her. So yes. It's a dark romance, but he doesn't have any apparent redeeming qualities.

Really quite bad

This book was quite frankly, bad. It is full of hyperbole and mixed metaphors. The FMC has no character or direction and her only defining feature is that she is beautiful and the orphan of a drug addicted prostitute. The MMC is inconsistently written and toxic. The love story was not believable and I just wanted it to end. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten to the HEA moment of a book and wanted the girl to say “no” more than I did here.
As for the audiobook…normally I like Troy’s narration, but this time he kept slipping out of his character’s Texas accent and it was distracting when he’d start doing it again.
Alexis Page is a first time narrator, so some concessions can be made for experience, but at times she was quite robotic and she pronounced multiple words wrong.
Save your credit for an actual hockey romance. This isn’t it.
