Publisher's Summary

POWER HAS A PRICE. SO DOES LOVE.

Return to the dark, sensual, and powerful world of the Black Jewels in this long-awaited new story in the New York Times best-selling fantasy saga.

After a youthful mistake, Lord Dillon's reputation is in tatters, leaving him vulnerable to aristo girls looking for a bit of fun. To restore his reputation and honor, he needs a handfast - a one-year contract of marriage. He sets his sights on Jillian, a young Eyrien witch from Ebon Rih, who he believes has only a flimsy connection to the noble society that spurned him. Unfortunately for Dillon, he is unaware of Jillian's true connections until he finds himself facing Lucivar Yaslana, the volatile Warlord Prince of Ebon Rih.

Meanwhile, Surreal SaDiablo's marriage is crumbling. Daemon Sadi, the Warlord Prince of Dhemlan, recognizes there is something wrong between him and Surreal, but he doesn't realize that his attempt to suppress his own nature in order to spare his wife is causing his mind to splinter. To save Daemon, and the Realm of Kaeleer if he breaks, help must be sought from someone who no longer exists in any of the Realms - the only Queen powerful enough to control Daemon Sadi. The Queen known as Witch.

As Jillian rides the winds of first love with Dillon, Daemon and Surreal struggle to survive the wounds of a marriage turned stormy - and Lucivar has to find a way to keep everyone in his family safe...even from each other.

Love this series

Love the series and the characters, great seeing them grow and mature over time. Tho not the biggest fan of the narrator, some emotions and speech was misinterpreted and kinda diminished the story

love A Bishop

Another amazing book in this series. Voices for each character are individually done. I've listened to it 3 times now

Ehhhhhhh

I am NOT a fan of this reader. Only my loyalty to the series kept me going. I don't know if I've matured or if its the audiobook vs print, but I feel like the characters are quite cheesey, though they have a special place in my heart because I used to adore the BJT. The reader made both Daemon and Lucivar sound way worse and the voice for Karla was just AWFUL.

The plot was decent. I did enjoy the direction Anne Bishop took the story.

It was good but disappointed in narrator change

I always love the characters in this series but was very disappointed in the change of the narrators voice after all the other ones had the same except shaladors lady when jenelle was suddenly Irish sounding so I hope they go back to the original voice in the next ones

Terrible NarrationReally Spoils Story.

The narrator is absolutely terrible! I love this series, and have been a fan for decades, but the choice of narrator for this book ruins the story for me 100%. I just can't stand them! I have been listening to the books on audio while I drive, because it's the only free time I have lately, what with a busy child, but this is so bad, that I will return it immediately and get the ebook instead.
