About this listen

J. Douglas Edwards is the man who first introduced Tom Hopkins to professional selling. He was the sales trainer of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. He trained over 200,000 salespeople a year for over 20 years. Hired by corporations around the world, Mr. Edwards began a crusade to change the image of the stereotypical salesperson that Tom Hopkins carries forward today.

In The Real Mad Men of Sales, you'll learn:

  • Assumptive tie-down test closes that let you know if they're moving toward the sale or not
  • How to properly handle a situation where there is a time lag with no way to close the product sale on the first visit
  • The power of written instructions in sales
  • Seven advanced closing strategies
  • Strategies for enlisting the aid of others in the final close
  • The most powerful single closing method used by top pros around the world
  • How to get the approval when you hear, "I need to talk it over with..."

Sales 101

Great book for person to person sales. Timeless classic. A benefit to any new salesperson who wants material that works in addition to current sales training trends which are in the moment and constantly changing.

Excellent book well worth a listen

Awesome, even though the language is quite old and outdated, I loved it very much

He Sold me on …

Each session was packed with powerful sales techniques

I’ve never actually had a sales job, however, meeting with prospects 2 discuss our services placed me in a Consultative Role, thus you can say I was engaged in, “Consultative Selling.”

My closing rate was ~ 95% and listening to, The Real Mad Men of Selling, uncovered many of the natural techniques i was using … the best is 2 ask questions, let ur prospect talk.

In this fast paced, click society, people want to be heard, to be understood, and if you can just listen with empathy, you will gain a lotta trust, and trust the the currency of great selling 😉

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio book as it gave me a deep understanding of what I was naturally doing 2 earn a lotta biz, and I highly recommend reading this book 2 anyone who deals with people 🥰

Outdated

This book is outdated and opposite to my values. It is more of a preachy patriarchal how to live manual than a sales guide. Dislike.
