About this listen
An audio edition of the famous Red Book text and essay.
The Red Book, published to wide acclaim in 2009, contains the nucleus of C. G. Jung's later works. It was here that he developed his principal theories of the archetypes, the collective unconscious, and the process of individuation that would transform psychotherapy from treatment of the sick into a means for the higher development of the personality.
As Sara Corbett wrote in the New York Times, The creation of one of modern history's true visionaries, The Red Book is a singular work, outside of categorization. As an inquiry into what it means to be human, it transcends the history of psychoanalysis and underscores Jung's place among revolutionary thinkers like Marx, Orwell and, of course, Freud.
The Red Book: A Reader's Edition features Sonu Shamdasani's introductory essay and the full translation of Jung's vital work in one audiobook. The Red Book is skillfully narrated by Mike Fraser. Produced and published by Echo Point Books & Media, an independent bookseller in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Story
Being and Time was published in 1927 during the Weimar period in Germany, a time of political, social and economic turmoil. Heidegger himself did not escape the pressures and his nationalism, and undeniable anti-Semitism in the following decades cast a shadow over the man, but not the work. Being and Time is not coloured by expressions of his later views (unlike other writings) and remains an outstanding document.

In 1957, four years before his death, Carl Gustav Jung, psychiatrist and psychologist, began writing his life story. The Trap is the "Rosetta Stone" of illusory reality and opens the door to freedom in its greatest sense. Listen to this book and the "world" will never look the same again. The veil of illusion shall be swept aside and the amazing truth this has kept from us shall set you free.

Story
Totalitarianism is not a coincidence and does not form in a vacuum. It arises from a collective psychosis that has followed a predictable script throughout history. In The Psychology of Totalitarianism, world-renowned Professor of Clinical Psychology Mattias Desmet deconstructs the societal conditions that allow this collective psychosis to take hold. By looking at our current situation and identifying the phenomenon of “mass formation”—a type of collective hypnosis—he clearly illustrates how close we are to surrendering to totalitarian regimes.

Criminals are allowed to roam free. Citizens are locked up. An appetite for vengeance is unleashed—to deplatform, debank, destroy. This is the daily news, yet none of it’s new. Patterns from the past make sense of our present. They also foretell a terrifying future we might be condemned to endure.

Fantastic!
Fantastic book and audio version!
So, so pleased that Dr. Jung wrote it, and spent his life exploring how our psyche works! And that his family approved the publication and Sonu Shamdasani and all those that contributed took the time to put this scholarly work together.
As Dr. Jung says - if you are a first time reader/listener of his work you might think he is mad in some parts. But all of our species has this madness but don't publish it.
Just listen to it a couple of times and it will begin to sink in. The introduction on his life and meaning is very helpful.

This journal lets us walk side by side with Jung as he travels away from his societal bonds inward to internal desert of desolate territories and haunting phantasms. The book detailed beautifully shares with us a very personal connection with Jung;
