About this listen

The Boy lives in a cottage with his mother and father, and the Dragon lives in a cave on the Downs. The Boy is his only friend. The Dragon is not at all the sort of Dragon one might expect to meet, however: he's polite and friendly.

Perfect for falling asleep to!

Is it weird that the comment about it being a super boring story from 1898 was what made me purchase this immediately?

I have a hard time quieting my mind at night and use audio books to help. This book is perfect for that!

It's an old school children's story without too much chaos to follow or a full cast behind it with other sound effects. It's lighthearted and something I might have found stashed in a closet at my grandparents' house .

Is it the most exciting book for the modern child? Probably not. But if you like nostalgic stories and/or need the right story and narrator to help fight off insomnia, then this is the book for you!

The reader is really amazing

The reader takes the cake, I mean he does an amazing job. He really adds to the story by making the characters come alive.

Charming Classic

I used to read this as a child and it’s a pleasure to hear it so perfectly performed in a gentle, English voice.

Likely to Create Reluctant Readers over Enjoyment

I accessed this for free from the catalog. It was written in 1898 and has likely been boring children ever since. I got this for my five-year daughter for a long car ride. She had trouble following the story. I had trouble caring about it while driving. The narrator did a good job, but we still found the story boring.

Out dated language

“Whooping like a Red Indian “ and other such BS. Not for today’s children, not for families wanting healthy imagery.
