About this listen

Suicide among teenagers is becoming more common.

Suicide is the third foremost reason of death among teens in the US, with more than 8,000 teenagers dying by suicide each year. Of these deaths, four out of five are male and one out of five are female. In other words, there's about 13 suicides per day among children aged 10 to 19 in America. Even more troubling is the statistic that suicide rates have gone up dramatically over the past decade - surging by 54 percent when gang violence was on a downturn - but no one understands why this trend has been so sharp or if it will reverse itself anytime soon.

In 2017, there are 6200 suicide deaths among teenagers and young adults, making it the second leading cause of death among the said groups according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Results from 2019 states that 18.8 percent of high school students have thought of suicide, and more sadly, 8.9 percent had even attempted to take their own life.

So, what is it that's causing so many young people - especially young men - to take their own lives? It's a question health expert have been grappling with all year. Another question is how to help and avoid this situation? This is where this book can help you.

Fairly basic

I was hoping for more medical and scientific information. This is more like a large pamphlet on teenage depression.
