About this listen
The first girl had a bite mark on her neck, but they traced the DNA to her boyfriend. But the tabloids got hold of the story and called the killer The Rottweiler and the name stuck. The latest murder takes place very near Inez Ferry's antique shop in Marylebone. When the Rottweiler’s trinkets start showing up in the shop, suddenly, everyone Inez knows is a suspect, and the killer feels all too close. Someone saw a shadowy figure running away past the station, but the only other clues are that the murderer usually strangles his victims and removes something personal - like a cigarette lighter or a necklace. Since her husband died, Inez has supplemented her income by taking in tenants. The murderous activities of the sinister 'Rottweiler' will exert a profound influence on the lives of this heterogeneous little community, especially when the suspicion emerges that one of them may be a homicidal maniac.

Most enjoyable!
Set in multicultural London, England, this is a character driven tale, more about the individual stories and their interconnected lives than the killer in their midst. Spoiler Alert; The killer is less of a monster and more a pathetic, confused failure of a person who struggles to understand their motivation.
Colouful and whimsical with a singular lack of gore, considering there is a serial killer at large. all in all a refreshing change from the darkness usually oozing from murder mysterious and happily lacking the alternative elderly lady amateur detectives who always show up the professionals.
Note:. I would have given this 5 stars all round, but the chapters ran into each other with no break between, making it hard, sometimes, to know whose story we were in. Probably down to the editors, rather than the narrator.
Now to choose my next Ruth Rendell book......

Enjoyed the interesting characters
Each character was significantly different then each other, with with very different agendas It kept my attention to the end. I enjoyed the narrator's voice it was gentle and easy to listen to, since each character had a different story line. it's caused me to want to hear how each character's life turned out . This was a very well-written book! 😊
