Mixed emotions

I really think if you’re going to have Zachary Webber read, the female counterpart has to match. He reads naturally, like a regularly flowed conversation. I have a really hard time listening to books read by CJ Bloom. It always comes off as if each character either has a serious attitude or they are raging upset. Which is such a disservice to the story. //For the plot, the whole idea around age, trying to force “mummy issues”, and how a good portion of this story was executed felt off-base and honestly kind of gross/icky. Alex came off as “though protest too much”. And I’m sure she was less than 10yrs older than Brayden. Based on the details of this story, she’s a stepmum, not a birth mum, therefore she’s not *that* old. Openly telling him that “nothing has changed” I know you love me deeply, but nothing is ever going to happen and I plan to toy with you and you must be okay with it. She also obsessively used Caitlin as an excuse. // This book was a bit weird to me. I really liked the men in the series (and most of their novels). They are very levelheaded and quite well rounded, and I adore their friendship relationship to one another. It’s a shame that the women were/are portrayed to be almost aloof and a crazy confused mess, and couldn’t have similar portrayals/experiences like the men.
