A Fantastic Book

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about Nathaniel Hawthorne? The man was truly brilliant at weaving a rich tale that takes the reader back in time. I have been doing much study on Salem because its history is also part of my history and this book gave me a vivid picture of what it was like to be a woman back in that period.

This version, narrated by Cori Samuel, is an excellent example of how a narrator can bring a classic to life and infuse the reader’s mind with technicolor images of a bygone era. I would give her more stars if I could for this performance.

I feel so enriched by this listen and can’t wait to “read” more of Hawthorne’s stories.
