#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Don’t miss the hit streaming series Reacher!

A string of mysterious deaths. A long-classified mission. A young MP with nothing to lose.

1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention.

That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

But office politics isn’t Reacher’s thing. Three questions quickly emerge: Who’s with him, who’s against him, and will the justice he dispenses be the official kind . . . or his own kind?

Narrator needs to chill out

I couldn’t get through it - the narration was too much. Every conversation sounded like a lecture or a fight.

Excellent as usual

PLCPA

I was not too keen about going back in time instead of forward from the last book

Reasonable

The tone was not at the tempo I’ve come to feel for a Reacher novel. The story became predictable and unfortunately the typical backstory elements we often discover of Reacher were less than present. Hoping 29 is better.

Another Reacher adventure

With time one remains hopeful the son will hone his craft like his father’s. Additional the pair will do well to turn to a performance reader rather than the current narrator. The books lend themselves to a dynamic performer.

Not one of my favourites

The premise of the story had promise however it was too far fetched in terms of timelines. A story doesn’t have to be resolved in a week. Build it out a bit more. What I always appreciated about previous Reacher stories was the slow burn.

Typical reacher.

Worth the listen. Did not enjoy the narrator, acting as man and woman. Made a good book average.

A solid Reacher story. Totally worth listening

This is by all means not the most exciting Reacher's adventure, but definitely a solid story well aligned with the character and previous history. As usual read by one of my favorite readers Scott Brick although not his best performance during multi-people dialogues that I know he could do better. Overall a good enjoyable listen. From the plot perspective it's on par with the second season of the Amazon's Reacher show.

Story line was not great

Didn’t have the build up and detail I expect. Parts were gross and gory. Not what I like about a normal

Underwhelming

I really enjoy Scott Brick performances, however, I believe in this performance he’s lost the voice of Jack Reacher. Lee’s Reacher is a logical, calm thinker with a lizard-brain. Brick’s performance adds far too much passion in every sentence; it’s like there’s an exclamation after every sentence(!) - particularly the last ½.
I would read this book again, but I would not listen again.
Juan Cabrillo may argue with emphasis. Reacher states fact, cold and clear, with no need for raising his voice or exclamation.
My $0.02.
