About this listen
It is 1911, and Jean is about to join the mass strike at the Singer factory. For her, nothing will be the same again.
Decades later, Connie sews coded moments of her life into a notebook, as her mother did before her. More than 100 years after his grandmother's sewing machine was made, Fred unpicks the secrets of four generations, one stitch at a time.

a twisted genealogical chart
I had to take notes to follow along! I loved this story and it's dips and curves, bringing these people together like a patchwork quilt. Great narration, it was helpful to have the different voices

very good!
I did find it a touch hard to follow the multiple perspectives as an audio book, but it was worth focusing on the year and name to help keep them straight because it is a lovely story. It is realistic, interesting and specific enough that it both peaks your interest and feels like a family history handed down.

Les liens qui se tissent peu à peu tout au long du roman entre ces deux familles et cette machine à coudre
Fantastique à lire absolument si vous aimez à la fois la couture et la lecture

Exquisitely braided storylines
This book is completely absorbing from beginning to end. It gives a beautiful picture of life in different eras and touches on the difficulties folks had and still have. The characters live fulfilling, loving lives within the challenges they face which I think it's something we all try to do. At heart, it's just really really interesting and wonderfully narrated. It's inspiring.
