About this listen

She was a loving housewife. He was a hard-working husband. Together they shared three precious boys. Their marriage wasn’t perfect, but there was love between them, and it worked…right until that fateful day when it all fell apart.

This is the true story of Amanda who, through no fault of her own, found herself caught up by the darkest most insidious corners of the criminal world of sex trafficking minors. Her husband, the man she loved and the father of her children, was a criminal. And when it all came down, she was left holding the pieces.

This book is written for the women left in the shadows and the aftermath. For the spouses and partners who lose everything in an instant, but still have to keep going, navigating through complex legal systems, coming to terms with the betrayal, and somehow “holding it all together for the kids.” The ones nobody talks about, except in hushed whispers.

With a remarkably candid tone, and a clear explanation of events and facts, Quick pulls back the curtain on what happens to those left behind once the perpetrator is caught.

Much more than a memoir, this book is also a beacon of light and hope for others in the same situation.

As Amanda states, “My message to the world is really quite simple. The only person who can change your life is you. Every single person has the power to choose differently.”

Are you ready?

It is time to shake off the shackles of the past that were put on you by another. It is time to step into your own power. It is time to trust yourself. It is time to begin to heal.

A important story of an unhealthy attachment

As a mother, a wife, and helper to vulnerable women, I appreciated the details this story provided. What was shared about her childhood, her relationship, the offence, the evidence, the struggles in and out of court, system failures and how she handled it all kept me listening (and learning). Listening to this story felt like she was sitting in the same room recounting it all - informal, imperfect but real. Her story about resilience speaks to women who are privileged in society and to women who live a very different reality, all at the mercy of the justice system.

Empowering story

Finished this book in a single day.
Amanda recaptures her story in a way that makes you immersed in her emotions and thoughts.
Even with a very heavy context I finished the book feeling light and with a lot of hope.

Great if you have a free credit...

To not spoil the story for anyone, I'll be vague. It's not the kind of story I was expecting based on the description. If you have a very strong reaction to stories such as these, don't listen. It's about how she stuck by him through sex trafficking charges. It could be a trigger for many.

The editing of the audio is apparently non-existent. Lots of mistakes, backtracking, fast forwarding that should have been edited out.

It's not a bad listen, but I wish I didn't use a credit I paid for.

It's an important story to hear

Loved the story. A few editing errors but overall amazing. It''s an important story to hear and is from a perspective you don't normally hear from which was amazing. The author did a great job at telling their story and is amazing for the fact that they wanted to get this story out there to help others who may be in a similar situation know that they are not alone.

Interesting Story

I came across this story on TikTok and wanted to hear more. While the story is interesting and shocking, the recording is full of background noise, which makes it difficult to listen, and the story itself had a lot of additional details that were not followed through so left me confused on why they were there in the first place.
