Evie is in the grip of a gambling addiction.

The performances was great. The story - dark as it is - could use more tension and better blending of different viewpoints but it holds up well enough.

I've listened to many suspense novels, and this was a nice change of pace. It kept me engaged, and even though there are a lot of people in the story, it's easy to follow. I'll definitely be checking out her other novels!

A Different kind of story

The writing could use a lot of improvement. Points are unnecessarily repeated. The challenges don't feel that interesting or suspenseful. If I wasn't told the characters were worried for the challenges I wouldn't know, the challenges overall seemed very basic and easy.
I'm not sure if we are supposed to like the main character but the things she does to her family are pretty hard to forgive in my opinion.

This was a long story and while it held my attention, that was mostly due to wanting to know how it was all going to come undone and not so much bc every chapter captivated me. Without giving too much away, you might enjoy this if you like cults but don’t expect to learn much about the point of that cult lol hope this helps
