This book was really great. Loved the twists and turns in the story. Very suspenseful and kind of weird that the mom and daughter were married to the same man.
I found the daughter’s character unlikable selfish and spoilt and naive .Very very childish. I don’t admire a weak woman at all . I felt sad for the main character but also she’s quite diabolical. I would hate to be in her situation and I think she handled it masterfully.
This story was well written and loved the edge that the author threw in for us. Well done and I’ll be looking for more books by this writer. This book was beautifully narrated and The narrator took me on a journey that had me anticipating how will it end.
Not disappointed at all.

This story will have you hooked ! The author is really good at writing stories that are suspenseful and addictive which would be great for tv. I hope Netflix picks up on this I would love to see it

Great book, loved the story, unexpected turns, saw some coming but over all it was great. I will listen to it again, Jane makes great books !!

Totally unbelievable that these women end up in this situation but Jane makes it very believable.. narrators are great in their characters

Ludicrous but Great

I had trouble suspending disbelief for this Jane E. James story asserting an intriguing scenario: a woman's daughter marrying her manipulative ex-husband and moving in with said mom. She provides a twisty-turny plot with well-placed surprise revelations & capable prose.
Unfortunately, the characters are so unlikeable that I couldn't muster the effort required to set aside reservations and simply enjoy the ride. I frankly didn't care about anyone in the tale.

Fortuitously for audiobook aficionados, Audible Studios Inc. cast the project brilliantly: Bethan Rose Young and Ffion Aynsley trading off narration responsibilities.. backed up by exemplary technical support. If given the option between a text version of 'The Son-In-Law' or this recorded iteration, choose this one every time.

Altogether, this audiobook merits 6.5/10-stars. It was a reasonable distraction for a couple of quiet afternoons.. but not worth a Credit should it leave the 'Plus' (included) menu.

Disappointing. Full of stupid characters. I like other books by Jane but this was unbelievable. Figured out most of the plot early and skipped to final chapters to confirm my thoughts.
