About this listen

Belly has an unforgettable summer in this stunning start to the Summer I Turned Pretty series from the New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (now a major motion picture!), Jenny Han.

Some summers are just destined to be pretty.

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

The narrator!!!!!

Ugh. I just could not listen to her. The story itself was okay, but the narration was like nails on a chalkboard!

Loved it.

I love these kind of stories, even though I'm 77. I'm. still young at heart. I am On book three now only just starting. and I'm afraid to read to the end because I have no idea what's gonna happen. as soon as I finish the books, I'm gonna watch the series on TV.

Great story

Great story that kept me interested the entire book. It ended with me questioning what happened. I don’t care for giving it my own

not a good perspective on women

as other people said it’s very juvenile which yes it is of course it’s a YA but also it really plays into being “not like other girls”. She constantly talks about how she wears more clothes than the other girls, no makeup, no perfume and how little she cares about “such things”. Especially noticed it when she talked to Taylor and she seemed to really look down on her for showing too much skin and wearing makeup and caring what other people thought she looked like. The whole book seems to shame a certain kind of womanhood and in general she seems super judgemental. Don’t care for books with that weird outdated “I’m one of the boys I’m so different” storylines. Honestly the TV show is way better as the whole thing is not very well written or compelling.

summer story

Good story about growing up. Overall a good story. I think the hardest part was getting into the story at the beginning but once it got going it was good.

Loved it!!

This was my first time listening to an audio book and what made me want to was the fact that they had Lola Tung narrate it and because she already narrated parts in the show I knew I would probably enjoy it. I was right, it was great. I had all the feels and couldn’t stop smiling at points. Highly suggest listening to this

4/5

I was so excited seeing that Lola Tung is narrating it, but I was disappointed. She has a nice voice, but she laughed a little too much when it was irrelevant. In the middle of the book, I either got used to it or she just stopped. But it became less annoying.
The story is a simple teen summer story which I like.

Easy to follow along

I loved the story line and the voice of the narrator. I think the crowd of 11 - 50 would enjoy this story as well as the series

Good listen for a teenage audience

It was a bit juvenile but I did enjoy the story. I particularly enjoyed listening to the reader, Lola Tung. She almost sounds as if she is the protagonist telling her own story. Which, to me, is what made it worth the listen. Overall, pretty good.
