INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of That Summer comes another “must-have” (USA TODAY) beach listen about family, secrets, and the ties that bind.

When her twenty-two-year-old stepdaughter announces her engagement to her pandemic boyfriend, Sarah Danhauser is shocked. But headstrong Ruby has already set a date (just three months away!) and spoken to her beloved safta, Sarah’s mother Veronica, about having the wedding at the family’s beach house in Cape Cod. Sarah might be worried, but Veronica is thrilled to be bringing the family together one last time before putting the big house on the market.

But the road to a wedding day usually comes with a few bumps. Ruby has always known exactly what she wants, but as the wedding date approaches, she finds herself grappling with the wounds left by the mother who walked out when she was a baby. Veronica ends up facing unexpected news and must revisit the choices she made long ago. Sarah’s twin brother, Sam, is recovering from a terrible loss, and confronting big questions about who he is—questions he hopes to resolve during his stay on the Cape. Sarah’s husband, Eli, who’s been inexplicably distant during the pandemic, confronts the consequences of a long ago lapse from his typical good-guy behavior. And Sarah, frustrated by her husband, concerned about her stepdaughter, and worn out by the challenges of the quarantine, faces the alluring reappearance of someone from her past and a life that could have been.

When the wedding day arrives, lovers are revealed as their true selves, misunderstandings take on a life of their own, and secrets come to light. There are confrontations and revelations that will touch each member of the extended family, ensuring that nothing will ever be the same in “this first-rate page-turner” (Publishers Weekly) that will whisk you to the charming beaches of Cape Cod.

Hard to keep track…

It is a little difficult, especially in an audio book, to keep track of all the characters and their stories. While the ending was somewhat predictable is was satisfying to get through to the and see all the storylines completed. It’s not terrible but not quite what I was looking forward to by an author I typically enjoy.

More twists than a soft-serve ice cream cone!

This is a fantastic summer ‘read’…I only wish I’d eye-read rather than ear-read…It would have been even more delicious to consume!

Quite random, too many stories

This book was extremely random with no real main character, just snippets here and there. Also the amount of coincidences is just too much. None of the characters are very likeable.

predictable!!

The book was badly edited and the story line was silly, the moral dilemmas the characters faced were trivial but written to seem huge so the story line would work.

Wow terrible read Like terrible!!!!!

I love or should i say loved Jennifer Weiner books! I can count on one hand the amount of times I have not finished a book. I could not finish it Honestly don't bother, there are so many storylines due to the multiple characters and a couple of the story lines especially the one where Ruby's dad thinks she maybe sleeping with her half brother and does NOTHING put me over the edge. I have now gone and read the ending and the ending is even more ridiculous. Please take my advice there are way too many great or even mediocre books to listen to on audible. You will regret the
time you spent I already regret the 5+ hours of my life that I am not getting back!

Wokeness Alert

had to fast forward through most of it as it covered every single woke agenda available.
