Publisher's Summary
Dee Kwan’s secrets for a happy life:
- Always remain positive, no matter the cost
- Realize that every setback is a hidden opportunity
- Accept compliments graciously, especially when given by mega-hot rivals
- Never, ever question whether any of these mantras actually work
For Dee Kwan, every day is the perfect day. No, really. She has a house she loves, a job she adores, and a ridiculously attractive “nemesis” who never seems to mind when she wins their favorite online game. How can life possibly get better? (It can’t, obviously. It can only get much, much worse.)
Soon Dee is forced to share her adorably cozy home with her parents and prickly estranged grandmother. Then she’s tossed into the deep end at work, tasked with cleaning up a scandal for the intimidatingly chic luxury fashion firm Celeste. If that weren’t enough, she discovers her hot nemesis works there, too...and Teddy is nothing like the man she thought she knew.
Before she can cry foul, Teddy comes clean about his double life: He’s the heir to the CEO, and he needs her help to make Celeste a better place—for everyone. But that means taking down the old guard—including his father—intent on standing in their way. Now in the center of a dizzying corporate coup, Dee is forced to decide whether she’s ready to stop watching the world through rose-colored glasses and instead face the truth: about herself, about her feelings for Teddy, and about what she’s willing to do to truly make a difference.

Fun Story set in Toronto!
Very good reader. No cringing from many bad pronunciations. And all the Toronto landmarks and Canadian references were greatly appreciated.

Fun, lighthearted
Story line was great! Moved along with good tempo. It was funny and cute. The performance was good - just a few times I could hear a line or two were patched in, and she sometimes spoke a little too quickly.
I loved reading a setting in Canada!

Original, fun story, perfect narrator
This book solidifies Lily Chu as an author whose books I won’t hesitate to get. Yet another entertaining, engaging story that feels unique. Love the characters, the Toronto setting, and the realistic family conflicts. The world of fashion and consulting is foreign to me yet the story presented it all in such a way that was easy to follow along.
Phillipa Soo is a stellar narrator or both female and male voices and I will listen to whatever she chooses to narrate.

Light & alright
I enjoyed this one but not nearly as much as Chu’s other books. As usual though, Phillipa Soo does a great job narrating.

Hard to set aside
I was counting the days for this book to be available to download. Listen to it when cleaning, driving to work at work. Hard to set aside with all the twist and turns this story is taking. All of Lily Chu books are great!! I hope we won’t have to wait to long for the next one.

Loved this book!
I’ve listened to a couple of her other books and am always impressed. I enjoyed the romantic story line. I really liked how it didn’t follow the usual conflict/resolutions. There were deeper layers to this light read. I definitely recommend! I can’t wait to hear her next audiobook!
