About this listen
The Twisted Sword is the eleventh novel in Winston Graham's hugely popular Poldark series, which has become a television phenomenon starring Aidan Turner.
Cornwall 1815. Demelza sees a horseman riding down the valley and senses disruption to the domestic contentment she has fought so hard to achieve. For Ross has little option but to accept the summons – and travel to Paris with his family, as an 'observer' of the French armed forces.
Parisian life begins well with an exhilarating round of balls and parties. But the return of Napoleon brings separation, distrust and danger to the Poldarks . . . and always for Demelza there is the shadow of the secret she does not even share with Ross.
The Twisted Sword is followed by Bella Poldark.

Another wonderful escape
One of my favourite in the series. I can’t stop reading, but I don’t want the journey to end.

Wonderful book in the series
This book was one of my favourites in the series. I really look forward to reading (listening) the next book! I will be deeply sad when I have finished the entire series as it has given me such joy.

Book 10...Singing 2.
Enjoying this series very much . Some of content is a bit cringy in today's terms but year 3 of the Covid trap has mellowed my outrage . I just want to be entertained . Binge watched the Masterpeice production after audibling a half dozen Poldark books. Masterpiece okay but the books are much better. This particular volume is outstanding. The short Jane Austin reference provided context brilliantly . It also gives the best description of the horror of Waterloo I have ever read. On to the last volume. God spare us from Bella's singing. Love the narrator. HATE the singing but I think that is the point.

Bravo narrator
Enjoyed this so much. Bravo to Oliver Hembrough, a brilliant performance. All those different voices and many different accents, quite a challenge! Really brought the multifaceted story to life. Thank You.
