About this listen
The throne is Valroy’s for the taking...but first, he needs a queen.
As the son of the Morrigan and heir to the vacant Unseelie throne, Valroy itches to shed the mantle of prince and take his place as king. To his great regret one ancient tradition stands in his way, demanding he first take a bride. With all the members of the Unseelie court proving to be insufferable, what is a prince to do?
Steal a human, of course.
Abigail often wonders if the townsfolk aren’t right in calling her cursed. Abandoned by her husband and with no family to call her own, everything in her life hangs by a thread. Never did she expect her downfall would come by taking pity on an old hermit. Abducted into the dangerous world of Tir n’Aill, Abigail is thrust into a terrifying Maze that defies all logic. There, she finds herself at the mercy of an Unseelie prince with a strange offer—solve his Maze and he'll grant her deepest wish....
If she can live that long.
From author Kathryn Ann Kingsley comes this tantalizing slow-burn dark fantasy that proves sometimes the line between love and hate is razor-thin.

Weird choice of narrator
Why they chose an old man with a proper british accent is mystery, it made it really hard for me to get into the book or to find the male mc attractive when he sounds like a 70yr old english butler. True enemies to lovers, slow burn, heavy on world building, somewhat alike to cruel prince but much better writing. Felt a little long but a good book and I look forward to the next.

To enjoy: Read the story yourself
I LOVE this story when I read it, but the narrator is NOT a good match. His voice kept pulling me out of the story.

The narration ruined this book for me
The narrator chosen for this book baffles me. It makes me seriously question the author’s taste and whether or not I should bother reading more of her work. The voice simple does not match the illustrations of the characters whatsoever (in my opinion). A smarmy older Englishman is not how I would think an edgy somewhat evil fae would sound like. The voice is giving bad parody of an 1800s English gentleman in his 60s and is nowhere near the hot pierced and tattooed fae that has captured our heroine.
Sad really because I don’t mind the writing. DNF’d this audiobook at chapter 9. I may switch to reading it on Kindle though as I think I would enjoy the overall story.
Disappointing.

Unredeemable characters with no chemistry
I should have DNFed the first time he threatened SA but I kept holding out due to the positive reviews. Shame on me for assuming the female lead would experience any form of character development or the male lead would have any redeeming characteristics beyond being hot.
