Publisher's Summary

Thomas Sowell's provocative critique of liberalism's failures

The Vision of the Anointed is a devastating critique of the mindset behind the failed social policies of the past thirty years. Thomas Sowell sees what has happened not as a series of isolated mistakes, but as a logical consequence of a vision whose defects have led to disasters in education, crime, family disintegration, and other social pathology. In this book, "politically correct" theory is repeatedly confronted with facts-and sharp contradictions between the two are explained in terms of a whole set of self-congratulatory assumptions held by political and intellectual elites. These elites-the anointed-often consider themselves "thinking people," but much of what they call thinking turns out, on examination, to be rhetorical assertion, followed by evasions of mounting evidence against those assertions.

A Thomas Sowell masterpiece

Such a good expose of those Anointed in contrast to the Benighted. Brilliantly argued with huge bibliography of cross references.

Essential 2022 reading. all about Trudeau

Destined for retrospective insight. The only criticism I have is that Justin Trudeau should be on the cover as poster-boy for the anointed.

Solid insifht into societal thinking patterns.

One of the more useful concepts in the book is the inmate bias of media and politics towards visible stories as opposed to invisible consequences of trade-offs. An interesting look at the limitations of discourse at certain levels due to human nature.

Challenges myths and exposes the lies we are being told

Thomas Sowell is one of the deepest thinkers of the past century, revealing the falsehoods that have been used to manipulate public opinion. While his research focuses mainly on events in the USA, he identifies issues that plague western civilization and are contributing to it’s demise. His views are supported by the extensive research that is required to reveal truth.
