About this listen

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Mariana Zapata’s most beloved book, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me—now with new exclusive content!

Vanessa Mazur refuses to feel bad for quitting—she knows she’s doing the right thing. The thankless job of personal assistant to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans for her life, and none of them include washing extra-large underwear one more day for a man who could never find it in him to tell her good morning, congratulate her on a job well done, or wish her a happy birthday—even when she was spending it working for him.

The legendary “Wall of Winnipeg” may be adored by thousands, but after two years Van has had enough.

But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door begging her to come back, she’s beyond shocked. Mr. Walled-Off Emotions is actually letting his guard down for once. And she’s even more dumbstruck when he explains that her job description is about to become even more outrageous: something that takes the “personal” in personal assistant to a whole new level.

What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

Great Zapata Slow Burn

I am a Zapata super fan, I’ve read and listened to all her books multiple times. I was excited when she was releasing this edition of Wall of Winnipeg with dual narration. Originally I wasn’t sure how I would feel about a female narrator other then Callie Dalton, but Emma Wilder is always fantastic. I do enjoy Stephen Dexter, but didn’t love him for Aiden.

I truly just do love this story. Zapata slows burns are always worth it. Wall of Winnipeg is one of her very best!

My favorite slow burn

This was my first Mariana Zapata book and even a couple of years later one of my absolute favorites.

I’m a sucker for marriage of convenience, extremely slow burns and friends to lovers and this book delivers.

I now own the ebook, physical and audiobook format. I love all three. The narration in the audiobook is fabulous.

Amazing narrators!

I absolutely adore this book and listening to it on audio was so much fun!!

It was my first dual narration audiobook, and I loved every minute of it! Having two actors do the dialogue and act everything out really made the story come to life.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me was my first Mariana Zapata book and remains one of my favourites. If you love sassy FMC’s, men who screw up and grovel, marriage of convenience, slow-burn and/or sports romances, this book is for you!

Love love love.

I will always love this story. I like this audible version, especially the added epilogue.

Perfection Again

Everything Mariana Zapata writes is perfection. No one can tell me any different. Of course I’ve listened to the previous version and was hesitant when this came out but now I just ask myself why I would ever doubt the Queen. Both are amazing. Can’t wait to hear the new version of Rhodes now!

Duet narration. This was a struggle.

The narrators were lovely. Absolutely no complaints. Duet narration was good. However I STRUGGLED to finish this book. I'm Canadian. I really wanted to like it. But it wasn't my jam. I felt like nothing happened? The plot didn't progress? And anything that would have been worth delving into happened off page. There was 1.5 spicy scenes towards the end of the book. They were ok.

Ouf…overrated

This just wasn’t for me. The male lead is very one dimensional, language is repetitive and to call it a slow burn is an understatement. I finally skipped ahead to when they get together and sorry but it was cringy. The only thing I liked about it was the female lead. Wasted a credit on this one for sure…

Best and Worst

While the additions to the text are mostly aimed at « finishing » scenes that sounded incomplete in the original edition, the narration in this remake is both a blessing and a horror. A blessing because although a great actress who read very convincingly, Callie Dalton had a Whitney, grating voice that started getting on your nerves after five minutes. Emma Wilder is a great choice for taking over. As for Stephen Dexter, there isn’t much good to be said about his performance. Although nature has given him a voice that could make angels smile, he has no idea how to use it. He changes characters by shouting and even screeching, insofar as one can screech with such a low voice. He is an unmitigated disaster as a narrator. I give 2.5 stars out of five on performance. Emma Wilder carries the entirety of that half. Alone, she would probably achieve a five.
