About this listen

From USA Today and Amazon Charts best-selling author Meghan Quinn, and narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Vanessa Edwin, comes a new stand-alone age-gap rom-com featuring a new cast of characters that will immediately have you hooked. This steamy, laugh-out-loud enemies-to-lovers small-town romance delivers the perfect happily ever after every romance lover craves.

Why am I holding a box of stolen memorabilia in my arms? It's called...revenge.

After failing my last semester of grad school, I decided to come back to my hometown and wallow in my boyfriend’s sympathetic arms. Instead, he proceeded to dump me...for being boring!

Now, I'm not typically a spiteful person, but there's only so much I can take. Hence why I’m holding the box of his most cherished possessions...stolen possessions no less!

The plan? To give the box back to its rightful owner and rat my ex out. How’s that for being boring?

But plans never go the way you want them, because instead of dropping off the box with a note, I’m pinned with the crime by the true owner of the box himself.

Hayes Farrow is grumpy, arrogant, and stupidly hot in a way that makes it hard to even look him in the eye. Not to mention he’s my brother’s nemesis so I fully intended to stay far far away from the gorgeous jerk.

But to add insult to the injury that has become my life as of late, Hayes gives me two options: Turn me into the police and press full charges...or work it off. How could I possibly work for someone I can't stand? Easy, I don't look good in orange.

But working for Hayes isn't as horrible as I thought it would be. The way I hate him begins to turn into something else—something I never thought I'd feel. But the way my brother reacts when he finds out I’m working for his enemy? He’d prefer me in prison orange.

Teddy Hamilton could read me the dictionary and I would be happy.

Not only was this book, cute, funny and SPICY.. it was also a lot more emotional than I thought it was going to be. I felt bad for both Hayes and Hattie! I loved their chemistry and banter though. I also really enjoyed that there was a small Brentwood Easter egg in this book too.

I can’t wait to listen to Aubree’s story next in a couple of days and Maggie’s story in April!

Teddy Hamilton could do no wrong and Vanessa Edwin did a great job too! It was very entertaining!

I cried twice 🥺

More than meets the eye. The background story of our FMC and her family dealing with life after losing their sister and matriarch of the family was really powerful and heartbreaking at times. The romance between Hattie & Hayes was everything it needed to be. Good banter, angst, enemies to lovers, pining, and steam.

Fan-Freaking-Tastic!

Meghan Quinn literally never fails me!!! This book hit me in ALL THE FEELS! I was laughing out loud, swooning, sweating, and crying. I listened to the audiobook, and it was expertly narrated, in duet narration, by Vanessa Edwin & Teddy Hamilton. Duet narration is now the only kind of audiobook I want to listen to! It was incredibly entertaining and easy to listen to.

The small town of Almond Bay was so perfectly described, you could picture the whole thing. As always, Meghan also developed all of the side characters so effectively, that you easily picture their parts in each scene, and wanted to know more about all of them.

Hattie Rowley is the youngest Rowley sibling. After her sister, Cassidy, tragically passed away from cancer, Hattie failed her last semester of her Masters Degree and returned home to Almond Bay. The death of their sister has thrown the Rowley siblings into a world of chaos. Hattie’s brother, Ryland, was granted custody of Cassidy’s 4 year old daughter, Mackenzie, and their sister, Aubree, was given Cassidy’s Almond Store to run, in town.

Hayes Farrow is a famous rockstar, home to see his grandmother and take break from the limelight. He recently fired his PA, Hattie’s ex, and while home he needs some help with fan letters. Hattie takes the job, but has to keep her new boss’s identity from her family, as Hayes and Ryland were best friends through childhood, but had a falling out in their senior year of high school, and the two have been sworn enemies since.

Hattie and Hayes’s story is a perfect enemies to lovers. The verbal sparring between the two is unmatched and had me laughing so hard. Reading/listening to the two of them fall in love was amazing, and their chemistry was undeniable. As with all of Megan’s books, the spice did not disappoint! The drama that unfolds keep you engaged and wanting more. The heartfelt moments from chapter 25 absolutely had me in tears. Finally, The pigeon rescue references from So Not Meant to Be, were one of my favourite things; I love references from other books!

All in all, this book was FANTASTIC and I would highly recommend the trip to Almond Bay, whether by reading or listening.

Cringey female narration, worse story

This story is so basic, I’m honestly shocked at all the positive reviews. There is zero chemistry between the two main characters, other than them both being hot. The supporting characters are straw men with zero substance, and the meagre attempts at character development are laughable. Both of them: “I would never be interested in that”. Him: “we made cookies together, now my loneliness is cured, let’s 🦴 .” Laughable. Also : love Teddy Hamilton. But pairing his narration with Vanessa’s doesn’t do her any favours. She reads the characters with too much emphasis and drama, like a 5th grader who is reading aloud to the class and trying too hard. It didn’t do much to making the FMC likeable. This was a DNF and return for me.
