About this listen
Stephen Gordon is an ideal child of aristocratic parents - a fencer, a horse rider and a keen scholar. Stephen grows to be a war hero, a best-selling writer and a loyal, protective lover. But Stephen is a woman, and her lovers are women. As her ambitions drive her, and society confines her, Stephen is forced into desperate actions.

Stephen’s experience
One of my book clubs introduced me to this book, which I really enjoyed. I haven't been exposed to queer literature and the history of lesbianism, let alone from that era, so there was a lot for me to learn with this book. It caused scandal when published in 1928, and was almost suppressed (Google the trial to learn more). I recommend it.
